Message from the Superintendent
Welcome to the 2023-24 School Year! My name is Dr. Wayne Burke and this is my first year as Superintendent in the Pleasant Hill R-3 School District. I’m very excited about the start of the new school year and all the great things we’ll accomplish. This is going to be another great year to be a ROOSTER and CHICK! If you are new this year, welcome to the Pleasant Hill School District. If you are a returning student or parent/guardian, WELCOME BACK! Summer break is a great time to find some quality time to spend with family and friends, along with the opportunity to relax and recharge. I’m also excited for you to see some very positive changes that have been made. We’ve had some form of construction going on in all of our school buildings and Central Office. You’ll quickly see the upgrades.
As a Superintendent, there is great excitement at the start of the new school year. We continue to follow the District’s Mission Statement of, “Every Student, Every Day!” We are all part of the Pleasant Hill family and share in the excitement and anticipation that comes with our students back in the classrooms. You may have seen the verbiage FLOCK Together around the district. With our mascots being the Roosters and Chicks, I wanted to coordinate our mascots into this year’s theme. This theme comprises of the following ideals.
F - Focus on our Students’ Needs. They are the primary reason a school district exists.
L - Listen, Trust, Lead. Gathering quality information, trusting the information and leading with it.
O - Ongoing Improvement. We should be moving forward in a positive direction every day.
C - Communicate, Communicate, Communicate. Making sure everyone knows what we’re doing.
K - Kind and Caring. This is our starting basis point. Why not be nice?!
Together - We are all responsible for educating our students and we’re in this together.
Along with this theme, our primary focus will be to find ways to recognize and support our students.
We certainly appreciate having such a supportive community. Whatever our activity is, you can be rest assured the Pleasant Hill community will be loud and proud in doing what is best for our students. It will be a great year because of all the people who put the needs of our students in the forefront.
Let's have a great year. Go Roosters! Go Chicks!
Sincerely,
Wayne Burke, Ed.D
