Assessment Tool information
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to introduce a new assessment tool this year, the NWEA MAP Growth test, which measures both student achievement and growth. This valuable assessment helps teachers understand how your student is progressing through key standards and allows them to identify strengths and areas for improvement. With this information, we can tailor instruction to better meet the needs of each student.
To help you better understand your student’s progress, we’ve created a video that explains how to read the NWEA MAP Growth Family Report. You can watch the video using the following LINK.
Here are some highlights from the video:
-
Understanding the RIT Score: Your student’s scores are measured on the RIT scale, which tracks growth over time and compares your student’s performance to national norms.
-
Tracking Achievement and Growth: The report shows not only how your student is performing each testing session, but also how much they’ve grown compared to students across the country.
-
Future Projections: The report includes projections of your student's performance on future assessments, including state tests and even the ACT for older students.
-
Guiding Questions for Teachers: The report offers suggested questions to help guide your discussions with teachers, ensuring that you understand how your student is progressing and what steps can be taken to support their learning.
We have also attached a sample family report so you can see how the information will be presented in the Family Report.
Look forward to these reports coming home, Friday, January 17th. Please take time to review this important information and use it to celebrate your student’s progress and discuss any areas where additional support might be needed.
If you have any questions after reviewing the report and video, don't hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher. We are committed to working with you to support your student’s learning journey.
Thank you for your continued partnership!
